Questions to Help Determine if Montessori Schools are Right for Your Child!

1. Would you like your child's study to be more teacher centered or student centered?

 

Montessori is a much more student oriented style of teaching.

 

2.What age is your child?

0-3

3-5

6-9

9-12

Older

 

 Children can go to a Montessori school at any age. However the "Absorbent mind" is from age 0-3 and Montessori believes this time to be most important! But there is no "wrong time" to introduce Montessori education into a child's life.

 

3.Do you want your child to have a "be your own teacher" set of mind?

 

Montessori schools don't worry about the transition between Montessori and traditional schools, which will most likely happen at some point during the child's life. They believe that you should be your own teacher and not have to rely of a teaching method.

4. Do you think a younger child learns better hands on and older children through application?

 

This is how Montessori approaches education. At the younger age they have toys and hands on activities that allow then hands on learning. The older children do more application activities in the class room and teach the younger kids as we'll.

 

5.Could your child have uninterrupted work periods for 2 1/2 - 3 hours?

 

Montessori schools have a unentirupted time built into their day for kids to do Individual work in their topics of choice.
